Science4Peace@DESY is a group of people at DESY who are committed to the peaceful and civilan role of science. We believe that science and scientific cooperation can serve as a promoter for peace

The group formed after the announcement of the DESY directorate on Jun 17, 2024, to start a discussion whether the guiding priciple at DESY("Our research pursues goals that are peaceful and serve civil society.") is still appropriate or whether research for military purposes can be allowed. This announcment was reported by Hamburger Morgenpost on June 28, 2024.

This announcement triggered a full discussion at DESY.
